You’re about the see this trend in home décor everywhere.

With Pantone declaring it to be the hottest trend of the new year (we totally agree as we’ve been seeing it everywhere), the geometric trend that presented itself in the angular print here and the faceted vase is about to blow up.

Geometry plays a big part in staging and decorating and you’re bound to notice more simple shapes picking up speed and design from everything including tiles, wallpaper, furnishings and décor. Expect an abundance of plentiful circles, triangles and hexagons!

Kasey Hodgson, co-owner and interior designer of Roost Interiors agrees and explains “Because of my background in graphics design, I have particular fondness for geometric patterns”.

As seen above, the recent living room renovation showcases a modern twist on timeless classics with features that array of shapes and sizes when combined together.

Clean-lined cabinet doors with geometric molding contrasts nicely with over scaled circular knobs, over-sized subway tiles laid out with a patterned mosaic marble floor. “We plan on incorporating bold geometric using tile, wallpaper and fabric in the upcoming year”, says Kasey as she finds clients tend to be big fans of the straight forward geometric motifs.

ITALIANBANK, an interior and design blog has also seen this trend take off in tile work- as evidenced by the diamond-shaped pieces showcased at Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings.

“Unexpected” hexagons, chevron and fish scale patterns left quite an impact and a new take on simplistic circles and symmetrical shapes.

Before you tear down your walls and rip up your floors, try to incorporate subtle items to compliment what you already have. Like an art prints for the wall or end tables by the sofa or even carpets and mirrors will keep it busy but yet simple.

Make the trend a focal point in your home, like tetris-styled back splash in your kitchen or like the one here via Architectural Digest – or even a dedicated wallpaper nook would look on point.
